The Academic Decathlon team from Canyon del Oro High School placed second in the state at the finals.
The competition was March 9 and 10 at Arizona State University West, and included 40 schools. Mesa Red Mountain took the state title. CDO made the competition close with a win in the Super Quiz relay event. CDO students won 25 medals at the competition.
The team will compete at the national finals in Minneapolis April 23-27.
Team members include Jake Rockland, Annaliese Grant, Rebecca Gosla, Jakub Safar, Alexander Molina, Maria Elena Pakulis, Rose Booth, Powell Brumm and Jason Trainor.
