Michael J. Brandt, who has served as Northwest Fire District's interim chief since Oct. 6, will have the label removed May 28, when he will sign a two-year contract to serve as chief.
Northwest Fire's five-member governing board voted unanimously May 7 to award Brandt the position. Former chief Jeff piechura retired in October.
“In the time he has spent as Northwest Fire District’s Interim Fire Chief, Michael Brandt has already proven to be a very effective leader,” Fire Board Chairman George Carter said in a news release. “Chief Brandt is respected by field personnel and management alike and his efforts have been focused on fostering the District’s status as a premier emergency service provider. That designation remains important to the organization now and into the future as the District continues to source efficient and innovative solutions for our residents.”
Brandt and his wife, Rose, have six children. Brandt has worked in the fire and EMS service industry for more than 35 years.
