Copper Creek Elementary School fourth-grader Michael Chen won the Amphitheater School District Spelling Bee Jan. 25. His winning word was "influenza."

He and three others will move on to the Pima County Spelling Bee at 10 a.m. Feb. 16 at the Arizona School for the Deaf and Blind, Berger Center for the Performing Arts, 1200 W. Speedway Blvd.

La Cima Middle School eighth-grader Luis Diaz took second place, followed by Cross Middle School eighth-grader Savannah Koskineini and Coronado K-8 School seventh-grader Odessa Mix.
