Tucson International Airport, the city's official recording site, picked up its first measurable September 2012 rainfall Monday — 0.27 inches.

Since January 1, the airport has recorded 6.59 inches of rain. The National Weather Service, Tucson Weather Forecast Office notes this total is about two inches below normal, but still ahead of last year's pace.

Notable one-day precipitation totals for the area, according to the Pima County Regional Flood Control District, include a gauge located just west of the Pascua Yaqui Tribe at Wade Road and Los Reales — 1.18 inches. Summit View Elementary, located just south of the airport, recorded 0.83 inches of rain.
