Officials with the state's Medicaid program will be in Tucson this week to discuss the health insurance program for lower-income Americans.

The meeting is scheduled for Thursday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Joel D. Valdez Public Library, 101 S. Stone Ave. Space is limited. RSVP is required to CoverageTucson@azahcccs.gov

Comments and questions will be taken at the meeting but can also be submitted to share@azahcccs.gov or AHCCCS, c/o Office of Intergovernmental Relations, 801 E. Jefferson St., Mail Drop 4200, Phoenix, AZ 85034.

The Legislature is scheduled to vote this session on whether to expand Medicaid. Arizona's program is called the Arizona Healthcare Cost Containment System (AHCCCS).

In Arizona, the expansion would broaden the qualifications from 100 percent up to 133 percent of the federal poverty level, covering an additional 57,000 Arizonans.
