A group of Tucson area high school students received their diplomas from an online learning program based in Gilbert last week.

The six students graduated from Arizona Connections Academy, a virtual school that serves kindergarten through twelfth grade, according to a school news release.

The students are: Austin Banghart, Christopher Costello, Rebecca Jackson, Donald Holt, Ember Mundt and Joy Stone.

The students were among 60 graduates, many of whom traveled from around the state to attend the graduation ceremony at the Mesa Convention Center.

Arizona Connections Academy is part of a national program that caters to students with an online curriculum and individualized learning plans.
