New and gently used coats are being collected for children in the Sunnyside Unified School District now through January.

The Tucson Chapter of Executive Women International is holding its fourth annual Coats for Kids drive, collecting jackets for children in preschool through 12th grade. Last year, the group collected more than 650 coats.

Coats can be donated seven days a week, anytime at Animal Emergency Service, 4832 E. Speedway, or at any other business displaying a "Coats for Kids" poster. For more information call 327-5624.

The percentage of children who qualify for free and reduced lunch in the Sunnyside district ranges by campus from 70 percent to as high as 96 percent. Last year, more than 1,500 Sunnyside students were identified as having experienced homelessness.
