Pima County's newest judge, Casey McGinley, took the bench for the first time last Monday.
In case you're wondering, the former prosecutor has recused himself from several cases he has personal knowledge of, including the one involving the former Pima County corrections officers and the one involving the Guerena family.
One can logically assume Judge McGinley's prosecutor wife, Laura, also had to spend some time reviewing her cases since she can't appear in her husband's courtroom anymore.
By the way, Alejandro Guerena remains jailed on $250,000 cash-only bond and Judge Christopher Browning has taken over the case.
Judge Howard Fell is now presiding over the former corrections officers' cases.
