Love it or hate it, it's become the norm for stores to open on Thanksgiving Day to get a head start on holiday sales.
But, is it worth it to go out on Thanksgiving night to shop?
I guess it depends on what you are shopping for.
DealNews.com has studied its archives for the past couple of years to find out what items have the best deals on each day throughout the shopping weekend. Here's what they found.
Last year, there were 50 percent more Android phone deals on Thanksgiving. And, 42 percent of all the phone deals that day were hot enough to be marked editors' choice oppose to just 31 percent of those listed on Black Friday. But, if you're looking for iphone deals, wait till Black Friday.
According to Deal News, HDTV deals are great on both Thanksgiving and Black Friday. But, over the last two Thanksgivings, TVs were at the very best price in their entire category.
Video game deals are expected to be awesome. The last two Thanksgivings there were 70 percent more gaming deals than there were on Black Friday. But, Deal News says we shouldn't expect significant low prices on Playstation 4 or Xbox One games or consoles.
Laptops and computers see the best discounts on Black Friday. One deal expected this year is a 15" dual core laptop for $170.
It's also the best day to get data storage. Get deals on hard drives, USB flash drives and memory cards. On average, Black Friday boasted 33 percent more storage deals than Thanksgiving and almost 85 percent more than Cyber Monday.
You might be able to get a deal on an iPhone. But, don't hold your breath. The last two seasons, there weren't very many deals. But, when there have been deals, they've always been on Black Friday proper.
The last two Black Fridays offered the more deals on small appliances, cutlery and kitchen gadgets than Thanksgiving or Cyber Monday.
Clothing and shoe deals were best on Cyber Monday the past two seasons. Deal News saw an average of 45 percent more clothing deals this day than on Black Friday, and about 53 percent more deals than on Thanksgiving. It also saw about 50 percent more shoe deals on Cyber Monday than Black Friday or Christmas.
Deal News predicts many clothing and shoe retailers will offer their best stacking coupons of the year during this time, so if you wait till Cyber Monday to make your fashion purchases, you can save a ton.
