Here's a list, broken down by day, of some free and cheap activities to do with the kids this week.
Monday: Make-It Monday at Nanini Library, 7300 N. Shannon Road. Drop-in craft activities for kids ages 6 to 12. Program runs from 2 to 3 p.m. Free.
Tuesday: Music Hour Story Time Duo at Bookmans Speedway, 6230 E. Speedway. Children will sing and dance for the first half hour, and then have snacks and story time for the last half hour. 10 a.m. Free.
Wednesday: Healthy Nights in Oro Valley, OV Fitness, 10550 N. La Canada Drive, Suite 160. Community walk for al ages. Pedometers and water provided. There are 1.5 and 3 mile options. Bring your dogs. 5:30 p.m. Free.
Thursday: Horton Hears A Who is playing at Century El Con 20, 3601 E. Broadway, as part of its Summer Movie Clubhouse. The show starts at 10 a.m. and costs $1. Show your Summer Movie Clubhouse ticket at the concession stand and get $1 off of a movie snack pack or upgrade to any $2 candy for free.
Friday: Dive-In Movie at Ott Family YMCA, 401 S. Prudence Road. Games, food and fun starts at 6 p.m. The movie, Wreck it Ralph starts at sundown. TMC will be fitting and giving away bike helmets, as well. 6 to 9:30 p.m. $2 per person, with a maximum of $10 per family.
Saturday: Teddy Bear Clinic at Reid Park Zoo, 3400 E. Zoo Court. Have the kids bring their teddy bear to the zoo for a check-up. Zoo staff and volunteers will use equipment and supplies used on zoo animals to treat different aspects of animal care. Health certificates will be awarded to the stuffed animals for participating. 9 to 11 a.m. Free with zoo admission, which is $8 for adults and $4 for children.
Sunday: Exploring Sky Islands at Flandrau Science Center, 1601 E. University Blvd. Learn about the geology, biology and ecology of our region through interactive exhibits. There are really cool hands-on things for the kids to do at Flandrau. 1 to 4 p.m. $7.50 for adults; $5 for kids ages 4 to 15 and free for ages 3 and under.
