A first-year Republican state legislator, Smith is a talent agency director who lives in the town of Maricopa. Born and raised in Michigan, he graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in marketing before moving to Arizona in 2001 and becoming the marketing director for an international medical device firm, his member page on the Arizona Legislature website shows.
