Mom, son beat in Tucson bar brawl

A bar fight at the Outlaw Saloon Feb. 17, sent one man to the hospital and left his mother and a friend injured.

The fight started at about 2:40 a.m. as a 45-year-old woman, her 21-year-old son and a friend, 40, left the bar at 1302 W. Roger Road near North Flowing Wells Road, Deputy Tom Peine, spokesman for the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, said in a press release.

The trio stopped to smoke on their way to the parking lot and a group of men and women “came out of the bar and approached them making antagonistic remarks directed at (the woman’s) son. The taunting continued and suddenly the behavior escalated into a physical assault,” Peine said.

When the mother tried to intervene and stop the attack on her son, the group turned on her, “knocked her to the ground and kicked her in the face. The 40-year-old male victim was also beaten and kicked.”

The victims did not know any of their attackers, Peine said.

Detectives obtained security video from inside and outside the bar and are attempting to identify the people involved.

Anyone with information on the suspects or the incident should call 911 or 88-CRIME.
