Officials ID Oro Valley woman fatally struck by car

A pedestrian died Thursday night after being struck by car in Oro Valley.

The crash happened shortly before 8 p.m. on North Oracle Road at North La Reserve Drive, said Lt. John Teachout, an Oro Valley Police Department spokesman in a news release.

Oro Valley resident, Bessie Datt, 78, was walking in a crosswalk across North Oracle Road and was struck by a car headed north that had a green light, Teachout said.

Datt was taken to University of Arizona Medical Center where she died around 8:30 p.m. the release said.

The driver of the vehicle was not at fault, the release said.
