2008: A day-long rainstorm soaks Maricopa County and drops up to three inches of rain in the northeastern mountains. A dozen roads in Cave Creek, Carefree and North Scottsdale are temporarily impassable due to flooded wash crossings. The Salt River Project (SRP) releases more than 15,000 cubic feet per second of floodwater over Granite Reef Dam into the Salt River through the Phoenix metropolitan area.
