An on-duty Tucson police lieutenant was injured and hopitalized this morning when his vehicle was struck by an impaired driver, officials said.

Lt. Lew Bentley was traveling through the intersection of Oracle and Orange Grove in his police vehicle when another driver ran the red light and hit Bentley's vehicle.

Police have not identified the driver.

The crash occurred around 3:30 a.m.

Bentley was treated at the trauma center and released.
