Rotary Club benefit to aid Vail programs
The Cienega Rotary Club is planning its second annual Texas Hold 'em Tournament fundraiser Aug. 2 at the Hacienda del Lago at del Lago Golf Club, 14155 E. Vía Rancho Del Lago in Vail.
The winner will receive a $150 Visa card. Last year everyone who played got a prize, according to event organizer and club treasurer Fred Bruns.
Funds will help support the Rotary Club and its Vail-area projects. The Rotary funds a program that provides backpacks filled with food for schoolchildren to take home over the weekend. It also gives dictionaries to all third-graders in the Vail School District (which adds up to more than 900 dictionaries a year).
Club members serve brunches at the Ronald McDonald House, and the club provides food and money at Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter for families in need in the Vail area.
"We look for all kinds of things we can do for the Vail community," Bruns said.
A reception will be held from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. the day of the tournament. Check-in is at 6:30, and games will run from 7 to 10 p.m.
Cost is $50 per person, with RSVPs required by July 26.
