Man killed in Sunday morning crash in midtown

A 39 -year-old man was killed in a crash in midtown Sunday morning.

The crash happened on Grant Road, just east of Interstate 10 shortly after 5:15 a.m. when a Kia Rio traveling west on Grant crossed over the median and into the eastbound lanes of travel and hit a Honda Accord head on, Sgt. Chris Widmer, a Tucson police spokesman said in a news release.

The driver of the Honda, Steven Williams, was pronounced dead at the scene, the release said.

The driver of the Kia, 20-year-old Thomas Lancaster, was booked into Pima County jail on suspicion of one count each of second degree murder and felony criminal damage, the release said.

Alcohol was a factor in the crash, the release said.

Lancaster had minor injuries.
