Tucson Gem and Mineral Show
That's right, the show that started it all back in 1955 gets under way today at the Tucson Convention Center, with exhibits, lectures and more. About 20,000 people are expected to visit. It's one of the premier events of the Tucson Gem, Mineral & Fossil Showcase, which started earlier this month. The Tucson Gem and Mineral Show runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. today through Saturday and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $10, with discounts available. International Wildlife Museum celebrates 25 years
Look at President Teddy Roosevelt's rhino from 1908. Crawl through a "ferret tunnel." Those are a couple of the experiences that await at The International Wildlife Museum on Saturday as it celebrates its 25th year in Tucson. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with activities that organizers say include face painting for the kids, carnival games, hourly prize drawings and birthday cake. Look for live reptile presentations on the half hour from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Tucson's Food Truck Roundup will also have a presence, as will other groups ranging from Colossal Cave Mountain Park to Tucson's Children's Museum.
