BUCHANAN, Donald W., 82, born to this life June 24, 1930, born to life eternal February 25, 2013. He is survived by his brother, James Kirby Buchanan, Glen Ellyn, IL; nephew, Daryle Echols (Robin), Woodway, TX; friends and church family. Born in Dallas, TX, his beloved parents, Donald Buchanan and Mary Elizabeth Dobbs and sister, Jeane Elizabeth Echols pre-deceased him. He received a BA degree from Wheaton College and attended Dallas Theological Seminary. He worked for the Texas Employment Commission and in southern California before retiring to Tucson in 1977. In 1978 Don joined St. Mark's Presbyterian Church and became active in the Democratic Party. Faith and politics were his vehicles for seeking inclusiveness and justice in church and society. Out of his scarce financial means, Don gave abundantly to causes that help alleviate suffering and give voice to the outcast and forgotten. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Gifts of gratitude for his life may be sent to the St. Mark's Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund or to the Pima County Democratic Party. Memorial Service will be held at St. Mark's Church, 3809 E. 3rd. St., Tucson, AZ 85716 at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 9, 2013.
