How we got the story

Arizona Daily Star reporter Brady McCombs and photographer Dean Knuth spent a week with the staff of the Pima County Medical Examiner's Office. They went along to pick up bodies, observed autopsies and tracked investigations. They recorded many office conversations during the week, which allowed for the dialogue in this story.
