Tucson summers can be deadly for live music, which is a no-brainer, really: Not many artists are brave enough to pull the summer tour into Arizona when the thermometer creeps into the triple digits.

Someone in Latin rapper Pitbull's camp forgot to give him that memo when he signed on to bring his Planet Pit World Tour 2012 to Casino del Sol's AVA on Aug. 5.

The show is a makeup for the November show Pitbull begged out of when Casino del Sol opened its resort hotel; the rapper was to have led off three days of big shows that included country superstar Tim McGraw.

AVA's summer lineup also includes a show next Thursday with Chickenfoot and shows with iconic bands Chicago, Duran Duran and Crosby, Stills & Nash.

Fox Tucson Theatre already has a fistful of shows including alt-country crooner Lyle Lovett, while the Rialto Theatre welcomes Of Monsters and Men, Indigo Girls and Los Lobos. Desert Diamond Casino, meanwhile, has three shows booked so far: Kool and the Gang June 15 and a pair of tribute shows, one to Jimmy Buffet, the other to rockers AC/DC.
