A MidSummer Night's Ice Cream Festival

Hub Restaurant and Creamery will host an ice cream festival on July 13.

Hub owner Kade Mislinski said he hopes to see dozens of ice cream trucks, paleta carts and local ice-cream makers participating in the festival, which will be part of the July installment of Second Saturdays Downtown. National ice cream makers like Ben & Jerry's and Häagen-Dazs also could be a part of the event.

The festival will be held in Hub's parking lot, he said, and admission will be free. The details are still being worked out, but Mislinski said he is thinking of offering an all-you-can-eat wristband so that participants can sample ice cream. There also could be ice cream contests.

"It will be the most ice cream you've ever eaten in your life," Mislinski said. "It's about anyone who loves ice cream and anyone who makes it."

Cinco de Mayo and Tortilla festival

Celebrate Mexican culture at the Fort and Tortilla Festival from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at Presidio San Agustín de Tucson, 133 W. Washington St.

The event features live music, folk dances, food vendors and an art exhibit, in addition to the chance to sample a variety of tortillas.

Meet the man behind "the Engine 2 Diet"

Former pro triathlete and firefighter Rip Esselstyn will sign copies of his book, "The Engine 2 Diet," at Whole Foods, 3360 E. Speedway, from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. Friday.

Esselstyn retired from the Austin (Texas) Fire Department to advocate for plant-based nutrition.
