Playground Bar & Lounge expands menu

Eighteen months after opening his downtown nightclub, Kade Mislinski is rebranding the Playground Bar & Lounge as equal parts restaurant and nightclub.

Mislinski last week rolled out a new, expanded food and cocktail menu for the Playground, 278 E. Congress St., next to his popular Hub Restaurant and Ice Creamery. The new menu adds entrees including fried chicken ($11) and the Loco Moco ($12), cheesy grits and rice with grass-fed beef, eggs and gravy.

Appetizers include wasabi ahi ($12), hummus with pita bread ($6) and the Playground's take on chicken and waffles - chicken and french toast ($8).

The expanded menu has 24 items including a Spam slider ($6) and grilled kale salad ($10), all available for free delivery downtown between 11 a.m. and midnight daily.Call 398-5065 to order.

The cocktail menu includes the aptly dubbed Quittin' Time citrus concoction made with Grey Goose Vodka and the more sophisticated Alfred Pennyworth that mixes Botanivore Gin with a splash of Aperol and vermouth. Cup Cafe closes to give penny floor a makeover

Cup Café at Hotel Congress is giving its 7-year-old penny floor a face-lift.

The cafe closed Sunday so that workers can restore the restaurant's floor, comprising 177,000 pennies. Many of the penny tiles are being replaced and restored.

Among the plethora of pennies are many vintage coins, restaurant officials said.

Cup Cafe, 311 E. Congress St., will reopen at 7 a.m. Saturday.

Three courses, $39.99 at Bob's Steak & Chop

Bob's Steak & Chop House at Omni Tucson National Resort is offering a three-course pork chop dinner for $39.99.

The deal includes seared pork chops served with a salad, jumbo onion rings and the house glazed carrot alongside a choice of potatoes.

Bob's, 2727 W. Club Drive, is open from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays through Thursdays, and until 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. Details or reservations, call 297-2271.

Grimaldi's getting in summertime BBQ mood

Grimaldi's Pizzeria is tossing barbecue chicken glazed with Sweet Baby Ray's sauce onto its award-winning, hand-tossed, coal-fired brick oven pizzas and calzones this month.

It's the pizza chain's twist on our national summertime tradition of barbecuing. Grimaldi's tops its classic white pizza with the chicken, smoky bacon and red onion, then garnishes it with fresh cilantro. The pies are available through July 31.

There is one Grimaldi's in Tucson at 446 N. Campbell Ave. Hours: 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays; 882-6100.
