The Parish Gastropub has three ways you can help a nonprofit program that provides free music lessons to low-income children.
The restaurant's Rescue Music Tucson 2012 Project kicked off this week and runs through the month. Here's how it works:
• Buy a specialty menu item; a portion of proceeds will go into the project.
• Sponsor a record label pin-up that will be posted on the restaurant's wall. (Think March of Dimes balloons or the Muscular Dystrophy Association's shamrocks that local grocery stores sell.)
• Attend the Rescue Music Night on Aug. 4 at the restaurant, 6453 N. Oracle Road
Proceeds from the project will benefit the three-year-old Tucson Summer Music Program, started by Salpointe Catholic High School alum Shelby King to provide free 30-minute music lessons to children ages 6 to 13.
"We were all musicians growing up, and we had opportunities to play because they were funded. Not so much anymore," said Parish co-owner Steve Dunn.
