They take St. Paddy's Day seriously at Pastiche Modern Eatery.
Each September, they host their "Halfway to St. Patrick's Day" celebration. Call it an appetizer for their full-on St. Pat's party on the actual day Sunday, when they dish up a taste of the Emerald Isle and change their name for the occsion.
For one day only, Pastiche, 3025 N. Campbell Ave., becomes Paddy's Irish Pub. The menu transforms from chef/owner Pat Connors' wildly inventive upscale cuisine to authentic Irish treats. In addition to corned beef and cabbage, Connors is dishing up classic bangers and mash with an onion gravy ($7.50); an intriguing Guinness hamburger steak dressed in Guinness gravy ($15.50); and a pair of desserts employing good Irish spirits — a Guinness stout cake with Dublin mudslide ice cream and Kilbeggan Irish whiskey ($8). Paddy's Irish Pub is open one day only, from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Reservations are highly encouraged. Call 325-3333.
