Artist Joanna Pregon took a circuitous route to the Old Pueblo.

She was born in Poland, spent time in Berlin after her family fled Poland, grew up in Connecticut, studied in Massachusetts and ran a gallery in Jerome. A few years ago, she settled in Tucson.

It's no wonder that her paintings mix the real with the unreal.

You can see her colorful, often-dreamlike works at the DeGrazia Gallery in the Sun over the next week: "Heart of Spring" opens with a reception from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday and continues through April 5. The gallery is at 6300 N. Swan Road, 299-9191.
