Serene setting for Sunday of jazz

It's hard to imagine St. Philip's in the Hills Episcopal Church much more tranquil than it is, thanks to the Josias Joesler-designed building and gorgeous setting.

But the historic church can get even more serene when it hosts music performances.

And that's what's happening there these days.

At 2 p.m. Sunday, the Rob Boone and Christine Vivona Jazz Quartet will play music in the church, as part of St. Philip's in the Hills Summer Concerts series.

On Aug. 11, Phoenix Chamber Brass will perform, and on Sept. 8, it's the Titan Valley Warheads.

Tickets to the concerts are $15 each. St. Philip's is at 4440 N. Campbell Ave. 299-6421.
