The Arizona Technology Council has named Roger Vogel, former CEO of medical-device manufacturing equipment maker Vante, the Tucson Tech Expo Business Leader of the Year.
The award will be presented to Vogel — the tech council's statewide chairman — by Mayor Jonathan Rothschild at the opening of the Tucson Tech + Business Expo, set for at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Jewish Community Center, 3800 E. River Road.
Vogel, who recently started Metrios Consulting, was CEO of Vante from 2005 until the company's acquisition by Flagstaff-based Machine Solutions Inc. in early September. Prior to joining Vante, Vogel spent about 20 yeas with IBM Corp. in Tucson, including three years as head of the local storage-systems operation.
At the expo, representatives of Raytheon, Universal Avionics, National Instruments, Honeywell and B/E Aerospace will discuss their business outlooks, supply chain requirements and procurement programs and goals. The program will be followed by the council's monthly After5 Networking event in the exhibition area, where contract manufacturers, engineering firms, technology providers and business services companies will exhibit their products and services.
Expo attendees can register in advance at www.aztechcouncil.org/tucsonevents. The cost to attend is $25 for Council members and $40 for non-members. The exhibition space is sold out.
