Three top executives at the newly-created UA Healthcare have resigned.
A memo sent out by interim UA Healthcare president and chief executive officer Kevin Burns Tuesday lists the three employees as: Kathy Oestreich, chief executive officer of UPH HealthPlans; Jean Tkachyk, vice president-integration for UA Healthcare; and Tere LeBarron, vice president-human resources for UPH.
UA Healthcare Inc., was formed this summer when University Medical Center Corp. joined with University Physicians Healthcare. It is now a $1.2 billion nonprofit entity with about 6,000 employees and is one of the region’s largest employers.
“I respect the personal decision that Kathy, Jean and Tere have each made knowing that the decision was not an easy one,” Burns wrote in the memo. “Each has made significant contributions to our success and I want to take this opportunity to thank them publicly for their commitment and dedication. Kathy, Jean and Tere will always be able to point with pride to their role in creating UAH, a new entity that will serve our community and its physicians in ways we have only dreamed about in the past.”
Burns could not be immediately reached for comment this morning.
University Medical Center Corp. operates University Medical Center in central Tucson.
University Physicians Healthcare operates University Physicians Hospital at Kino, on Tucson's south side; manages the UA College of Medicine's physician faculty practice; and manages a health plan that directs patients to various health-care facilities.
Both companies were spun off from the University of Arizona and have maintained primary missions of supporting the UA College of Medicine.
